Katy Collins, the veteran MMA fighter, has died at the age of 32. Collins’ death on September 25 came five days after she suffered a brain aneurysm. One of Collins’ friends said in a Facebook post that the MMA fighter’s aneurysm caused a stroke and subsequent seizures.
Collins is survived by her two young sons. In her fighting career, Collins went by the nickname, Red Dragon. During her career, Collins fought for Bellator, RFA, LFA and Invicta.

Collins’ death was confirmed by Branson Fight Club Head Coach JT Tilley. Collins had been based in at the Missouri club. Tilley wrote in the heartbreaking post, “The fight is over. You never stopped fighting and we never gave up on you. Just wasn’t in the cards…. I’ve always been so proud of you Kate. We did it. I was honored to be able to live you your dream with you. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I will miss you more than the world will ever know. 😔”
On September 21, Tilley posted a photo of Collins to his Facebook page with a caption saying, “One last fight Kate. You can do this.” While the day before her death, Tilley posted a photo with Collins saying, “Final Round Kate. We all believe in your.”
2. Collins Was a ‘Loving, Caring, Selfless Individual With a Huge Heart’
According to a GoFundMe page that had been set up to help to pay for Collins’ medical expenses, Collins suffered a brain aneurysm on September 20. The page refers to Collins as “a loving, caring, selfless individual with a huge heart.” While another paragraph says that Collins was “young and strong and full of life and love.” The page adds that Collins is survived by her two young sons.

Collins said on her Facebook page that she was originally from Marked Tree, Arkansas, where she attended Marked Tree High School. At the time of her death, Collins was living in Branson, Missouri and was in a relationship with a man named Keith Harris. One of Collins’ final Facebook posts showed the couple attending a concert by heavy metal band Saliva in Branson, Missouri.

5. Collins Lost Her Last Fight in June 2018
According to Collins’ Sherdog profile, she lost her last fight in June 2018 to Jaimelene Nievera at the Legacy Fighting Alliance event in Branson, Missouri. That loss proceeded two others, in March 2018 and September 2017 respectively. Collins last win came in July 2017 over Bruna Vargas. In total, Collins fought 12 times, winning seven times and losing five. Collins had her first professional fight in May 2011. She had been competing on the amateur circuit since 2011.
